In 2006, Michael was named president of Landmark Interactive, a division made up of a series of acquisitions. Landmark Interactive now includes Travel Media Group, the leading digital marketing platform in the hospitality space along with a national network of travel guides. The Franchise Group includes the leading franchise recruitment sites FranchchiseSolutions.com, Franchise.com, FranchiseOpportunities.com, FranchiseForSale.com, FranchiseGator.com, and the leading business for sale marketplace BusinessBroker.net, with 30,000 active listings from the United States and Canada.
Michael has been actively involved in building digital marketing businesses since 1995 for Landmark Media Enterprises. In 2003, he was named vice president for corporate development and new ventures where he led the company to a series of acquisitions in lead generation and marketing services, including many of the leading websites in franchise recruitment, data services and software for geo-targeting and online fraud prevention, and consumer marketing data.
In 1995 he was named general manager, Interactive Media for The Virginian-Pilot, Landmark’s flagship newspaper in Norfolk, Virginia where he led the development of numerous interactive media businesses. Beginning in 1991, he served as director of business development for Landmark Community Newspapers.
He joined Landmark’s Corporate New Ventures team in 1989 after eight years in the energy information business with Schlumberger in the Gulf of Mexico. Michael holds a B. S. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University and an M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia.
